Woman Watched Her Parents Die in a Gun-Free Zone 

Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz published an open letter that ask customers not to “bring firearms into our stores or outdoor seating areas,” thus wanting to create a “gun-free zone.” Will evil people who want to harm others care? Criminals pursue the easiest targets. A gun-free zone is an easy target. Movie theaters are easy targets, but not when I’m in there. 

The Luby’s restaurant massacre took place on October 16, 1991, in Killeen, Texas. George Hennard drove his pickup truck into the cafeteria and murdered 23 people while wounding another 20, subsequently committing suicide by shooting himself. Because of a Texas gun law at that time, citizens were not permitted to carry a weapon in public places. As is always the case, people who want to commit a crime don’t care about laws: “Responding to the massacre [at the Luby’s cafeteria], the Texas Legislature in 1995 passed a shall-issue gun law, which requires that all qualifying applicants be issued a Concealed Handgun License. 

“The law had been campaigned for by Dr. Suzanna Hupp, who was present at the massacre where both of her parents were shot and killed. She later expressed regret for obeying the law by leaving her firearm in her car rather than keeping it on her person due to the fact that it could have cost her chiropractic license. “She testified across the country in support of concealed handgun laws, and was elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 1996. The law was signed by then-Governor George W. Bush.”

It was while sitting on a couch sipping tea that Mr. Parker was stabbed repeatedly in the head by a stranger. "

Nabil Hurhuy, 23, was arrested in Scarborough Saturday afternoon and charged with first-degree murder, two counts of carrying a concealed weapon and one count of carrying a dangerous weapon. 

At the age of 40, Mr. Parker decided to fulfill his life-long dream of becoming a firefighter and signed up with the Markham Fire and Emergency Services.

At one point, a member of the audience, Andrew Rothberg, had his Galaxy Note II smartphone taken from him by security, which removed his picture of Clinton onstage and then gave his device back in front of a Miami Herald reporter in the auditorium stands…

Rothberg said he was more puzzled than upset. He said he guessed at one point that Clinton’s handlers might have wanted to control the event to keep activists from infiltrating the event and raising awareness about issues like the attacks in Benghazi, Libya, on Sept. 11, 2012. But he wasn’t sure.

Well, they couldn’t have that, could they? Benghazi is just another phony scandal, it doesn’t make a difference at this point, and so forth. That’s an excellent reason to grab somebody’s private property and do whatever you want with it.

I hope that security goon got a good look at all the other pics on that phone, just to make sure. Because that’s reasonable search and seizure.

“Is This America”? Father Arrested For Speaking Out Against Common Core At Public Meeting

Watch as this poor father is manhandled for speaking. Now he is being charged with assault on a police officer; I don’t see an assault, except one from the “police officer”.

A parent in Towson, Md., was arrested Thursday night at a public forum after vocally expressing his concerns about the Baltimore County School District’s plan to use Common Core standards in its curriculum.

Robert Small, a concerned father, was forcefully removed from the meeting by a police officer after he interrupted Baltimore County Schools Superintendent Dallas Dance during the question-and-answer portion of the forum.

The meeting apparently didn’t allow parents to stand up and ask questions or comment. Parents and other attendants were instead asked to write their questions on a piece of paper and officials would read them.

However, Small began speaking out against the district’s use of Common Core, prompting a security guard, who was also a police officer, to approach him and order him to leave. “Let’s go!” he said sternly.

When Small didn’t immediately comply, the officer began pulling his arm and pushing him towards the exit. Some audience members gasped at the cop’s use of force.

“Don’t stand for this,” the father said as he was dragged out. “You are sitting here like cattle! Is this America?”

Report: Capitol Police Supervisor Ordered Tactical Response Team To Stand Down During Naval Yard Shooting…

They were on scene “a few minutes” after the initial report of a shooting came in. A lot of law enforcement agencies are extremely territorial, I’m thinking the moronic supervisor didn’t want municipal officers coming to the aid of Capitol Police, but that’s just a guess.

Washington DC’s Capitol Police have ordered a review into a BBC report that an armed police team was ordered not to respond to Monday’s mass shooting.

A tactical response team from the force was told by a supervisor to leave the scene instead of aiding municipal officers, police sources told the BBC.

The Capitol Police sources suggest they could have saved lives had they been allowed to go in. [...]

About 8:15 local time (12:15 GMT), Alexis entered Building 197 at the installation and launched his attack.

Armed with a shotgun and a pistol he took from a guard he had shot, he sprayed bullets down a hallway and fired from a balcony down on to workers in an atrium. He also fired on police officers who stormed the building, and was later killed in the shootout.

Multiple sources in the Capitol Police department, which guards the US Capitol complex, have told the BBC that its highly trained and heavily armed four-man Containment and Emergency Response Team (Cert) was near the Navy Yard when the initial report of an active shooter came in at about 8:20 local time.

The officers, wearing full tactical gear and armed with HK-416 assault weapons, arrived outside Building 197 a few minutes later,an official with knowledge of the incident told the BBC.

According to a Capitol Police source, an officer with the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), Washington DC’s main municipal force, told the Capitol Cert officers they were the only police on the site equipped with long guns, and requested their help stopping the gunman.

When the Capitol Police team radioed their superiors, they were told by a watch commander to leave the scene, the BBC was told.

“I don’t think it’s a far stretch to say that some lives may have been saved if we were allowed to intervene,” a Capitol Police source familiar with the incident told the BBC.

Rep. Frank Wolf (R., Va.) revealed at an event on Monday that his office was anonymously informed about the CIA employee, who is purportedly facing an internal backlash after refusing to sign a legal document barring him from publicly or privately discussing events surrounding the Benghazi attack.

On the Pacific front during World War II, strange messages were picked up by American and Japanese forces on land and at sea. The messages were totally unintelligible to everyone except a small select group within the Marine Corps: the Navajo code talkers-a group of Navajos communicating in a code based on the Navajo language. This code, the first unbreakable one in U.S. history, was a key reason that the Allies were able to win in the Pacific.

At Roy Hawthorne’s school, there was one sure way to get in trouble. Hawthorne lived on the Navajo reservation in New Mexico in the 1930s and attended a school run by the US government. Students at the school were strictly forbidden to speak their native Navajo language. If they spoke anything other than English, they would likely have their mouths washed out with soap. But Hawthorne never stopped speaking Navajo. At home and at play, he still used the language that had been passed down from one generation to the next. Years later, his knowledge of that language paid off for him and for his entire country. Hawthorne became a “code talker,” one of a group of about four hundred Navajos who served in the US Marine Corps during World War II. Their job was to send and receive secret coded messages.

The coder talkers invented a code based on their native language that was never broken by the enemy. The same language that once got Navajo children like Roy Hawthorne in trouble saved thousands of lives during the war.

Houston Man May Face Charges for Shooting Carjackers Filed under 2nd Amendment, Crime, Email Featured, Law Enforcement Carjacking, Self-Defense 153 Share242 Tweet48 4 Share403 A Houston, Texas man may face charges for shooting a couple of carjackers and killing one. It happened one evening last week when the man came to his local Redbox to rent a video. When he was out of his car, two men robbed him of his keys and cellphone at gunpoint before getting into the victim’s car in an attempt to leave. (If only the Redbox had posted their “Carjacking-Free Zone” sign. Then, this incident probably would have never been conceived in the first place.) 

Thankfully, it wasn’t a gun-free zone, because the victim is a concealed carry holder. He retrieved his own weapon and began shooting at both carjackers, killing the driver and wounding the other. The other took off in a getaway car, leaving the scene and the victim’s car behind. The police are now on the lookout for those two suspects. I’ve never been in that kind of situation, but I imagine it feels like your life could very well end at any second. That’s why the man shot at the criminals. They were armed thugs, and the man’s life was being threatened. He had no idea whether or not the carjackers were actually going to kill him. No one ever knows what the criminal’s intent really is. So, if a criminal decides to hold some guy up at gunpoint and steal his car under threat of death, that criminal should expect to lose his life. 

A car is often described in the context of law as an extension of a person’s home. If a criminal breaks in your house and tries to steal some of your possessions at gunpoint, you have a right to defend yourself and your property. In the same way, you have a right to defend yourself and your vehicle from an armed and dangerous carjacker.

An American aviator has begun the first attempt to cross the Atlantic suspended by hundreds of coloured balloons. Jonathan Trappe took off from Caribou, Maine, on Thursday morning as his capsule was lifted by 370 helium-filled balloons in heavy fog and he headed east from the US.

The concept may sound like the story from the Disney film Up but Trappe, 39, specialises in cluster ballooning and was the first person to cross the Channel and the Alps using the method.

The transatlantic trip could be as long as 2,500 miles (4,000km) and take between three and five days. Depending on the weather, he could land anywhere between Iceland and Morocco.

Jonathan Trappe landed in a remote part of Newfoundland, Canada, on Thursday night after putting a message on his Facebook page reading : "Hmm this doesn't look like France."
