President Obama warned Monday that the United States could lose years in the race for scientific innovation because of Republicans’ fixation on cutting spending, including investments in scientific research.
“Right now, we’re on the brink of amazing breakthroughs that have the chance, the potential to change life for the better, which is why we can’t afford to gut these investments in science and technology,” he said. “Unfortunately, that’
what we’re facing right now because of the across-the-board cuts that Congress put in place — the sequester as it’s known in Washington-speak — it’s hitting our scientific research.
“Instead of racing ahead to the next cutting-edge discovery, our scientists are left wondering if they’ll get to start any new projects, any new research projects at all over the next few years, which means that we could lose a year, two years of scientific research as practical matter because of misguided prioirties here in this town,” Obama said. “With the pace of technological innovation today, we can’t afford to stand still for a year or two years or three years; we’ve got to cease every opportunity we have to stay ahead, and we can’t let other countries win the race for ideas and technology of the future.”

An old Marine Pilot sat down at the Starbucks, still wearing his old USMC flight suit and leather jacket and ordered a cup of coffee.
As he sat sipping his coffee, a young woman sat down next to him. She turned to the pilot and asked, 'Are you a real pilot?'
He replied, 'Well, I've spent my whole life flying planes, first Stearmans, then the early Grummans... flew a Wildcat and Corsair in WWII, and later in the Korean conflict, Banshees and Cougars. I've taught more than 260 people to fly and given rides to hundreds, so I guess I am a pilot, and you, what are you?
She said, 'I'm a lesbian. I spend my whole day thinking about naked women. As soon as I get up in the morning, I think about naked women. When I shower, I think about naked women. When I watch TV, I think about naked women. It seems everything makes me think of naked women.'
The two sat sipping in silence.
A little while later, a young man sat down on the other side of the old pilot and asked: "are you a real pilot?"

A former employee of Dr. Kermit Gosnell takes the stand and gives a graphic testimony of what went on at the West Philadelphia abortion clinic. NBC10's Daralene Jones reports.
The prosecution put its last witness on the stand today in the "House of Horrors" abortion clinic trial, wrapping up five weeks of testimony with some of the most graphic and disturbing details.
Kareema Cross described babies being born alive, watching them breath, watching their limbs move and even watching one struggle after being aborted into toilet water. Another baby she said uttered a "soft whine."
She testified that at one time, co-worker Lynda Williams called her over and Williams pulled the arm of a baby and watched it pull its arm back. Cross said the "fully intact" baby's neck was snipped about 20 minutes later.
Cross told jurors that she also witnessed a baby being aborted into a toilet at the clinic and recalled seeing it "swimming...trying to get out of the water." She described one baby, "Baby A" as the largest baby she saw at the clinic and testified that her boss, Dr. Kermit Gosnell, joked about how the baby was big enough to walk home. She said "Baby A" was placed in a plastic container and that she saw him moving his arms and legs to fit himself into the box. Gosnell eventually snipped Baby A's neck, Cross said.

Obama, he didn’t do the keynote last night to Planned Parenthood, but he did show up and make a speech, and his comments were the first to Planned Parenthood by a sitting president. And he lauded ‘em. He praised their nearly 100 years of service to women. This makes me ill, by the way. That a president of the United States shows up at an abortion factory, essentially, and praises their work. You know what else he said? He said the opponents of abortion want to return to the 1950s.

California, When Gun Confiscation Starts, Don’t Let Them In The Door
California inched closer to passing a gun confiscation bill last week. The bill returns to the Senate for some “non-controversial” amendments and then goes to the desk of Governor Brown. What the people of California need to realize is that this is all a formality. The gun confiscation is already happening and will continue. This legislation would only provide more money to expedite the process.
With all of the major news stories this legislation has been largely unnoticed in the media. What I want all of our readers to understand is that what is happening in California, and will continue to happen, is only happening because people do not know and understand their rights.
The thing that you must understand is that this bill deals with a type of gun confiscation that happens without warrants. Let me quote a Huffington Post article which appeared late last week:
“California is the only U.S. state where law enforcement officials confiscate guns from the homes of individuals not legally permitted to own them. Because gun-confiscating agents do not obtain search warrants, their job involves convincing people to let them into their homes and hand over their guns. If an individual does turn over a gun, he or she can be arrested on suspicion of illegally owning a firearm.”
Really? Is this one of the craziest things you have ever heard in your life? This paragraph shocked me.
Your 4th Amendment rights protect you from unreasonable search and seizure. Here is the text of the 4th Amendment:
“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”

Boston Terrorists’ Mother On Bloody Bombing Scene: There Was No Blood, It Was “Paint”…

(CNN) — The mother of the two suspects in the Boston Marathon bombing says she believes the tragedy that killed three people and injured dozens more was staged, that the bombing was fake.
“That’s what I want to know, because everybody’s talking about it — that this is a show, that’s what I want to know. That’s what I want to understand,” said Zubeidat Tsarnaev.
She has seen a video purporting the wild idea, she told CNN’s Nick Paton Walsh, who interviewed her in Makhachkala, Dagestan. He asked if she has seen the news images of the actual bombings and the suffering they caused.
“I haven’t,” she answered. There was no blood, she said. It was paint. But her disbelief broke down when she spoke of the victims.
“I really feel sorry for all of them. Really feel sorry for all of them,” she said, her voice cracking. But she is resolute about not believing that her sons, Dzhokhar, 19, and Tamerlan, 26 were involved.

Parents of children attending a Red Hook, New York, middle school are outraged after a recent anti-bullying presentation at Linden Avenue Middle School.
The workshop for 13 and 14-year-old girls focused on homosexuality and gender identity. They were also taught words such as “pansexual” and “genderqueer.”
Parents say their daughters were told to ask one another for a kiss and they say two girls were told to stand in front of the class and pretend they were lesbians on a date.
“She told me, ‘Mom we all get teased and picked on enough. Now I’m going to be called a lesbian because I had to ask another girl if I could kiss her,’” parent, Mandy Coon, told reporters.

The Hubble observatory, which launched on April 24, 1990, captured theHorsehead Nebula in infrared light, peering through obscuring veils of dust to reveal the object's hidden features.
"The result is a rather ethereal and fragile-looking structure, made of delicate folds of gas -- very different to the nebula's appearance in visible light," mission officials wrote in an image description today (April 19). The new observations allowed astronomers to create a dazzling video of the Horsehead Nebula based on Hubble's photos.
The Horsehead Nebula, also known as Barnard 33, is located about 1,500 light-years from Earth in the constellation Orion (The Hunter). The Horsehead is a huge interstellar cloud of gas and dust, like other nebulae, and the light from a nearby star gives it a beautiful glow.
