This past weekend, a family in Sacramento, California was a having a sleepover.  A little after 3:00 am, several armed intruders broke into the home.  Their mistake was that they picked the wrong house.

The homeowner had a gun and knew how to use it.  He used his gun to protect his family and the other kids that were there for the sleepover.  He drove the intruders outside where a gun battle ensued.  Local police were called to a report of gun shots being fired.  When they arrived, they found one intruder dead and the homeowner with non-life threatening wounds.  Later that day, a second intruder was arrested and found to have been wounded in the gun battle.  There may have been a third intruder involved since another young man showed up at a local hospital with a gunshot wound.

San Antonio: Man Attempts To Open Fire On Movie Theatre Crowd, Off-Duty Sheriff Carrying Her Firearm Stops Rampage With One Shot…

(WOAI) — Two people are hospitalized after a gunman chased terrified restaurant patrons into the lobby of the Santikos Mayan 14 movie theater during a showing of “The Hobbit” last night, 1200 WOAI news reprots.
Police detectives and sheriff’s investigators say the incident started in the China Garden Restaurant on Southwest Military Drive about 9 PM Sunday, when an employee of the restaurant walked in looking for a woman.
When the woman, who officials say is also a restaurant employee, wasn’t there, the man pulled a gun and attempted to open fire in the restaurant but his weapon jammed.
“It started at the restaurant and then went into the parking lot and then into the movie theater,” Deputy Lou Antu told 1200 WOAI news.
Investigators say some of the terrified restaurant patrons poured into the movie theater, and the gunman followed.
He opened fire, shooting one man in the chest, before Antu says an off duty sheriff’s deputy who was working security at the theater shot him once.
“The officer involved, she took the appropriate action to try to keep everyone safe in the movie theater,” Antu said.
The gunman and the patron are hospitalized.
Antu says the gunman never made it into the theater itself, thanks largely to the heroic work of the off duty deputy.
“She did what she felt she had to do,” Antu said. “I feel that she saved a lot of lives by taking the action she had to take.”

Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) says she will introduce a gun-control bill on the first day of the next Congress: “It will ban the sale, the transfer, the importation and the possession –  not retroactively, but prospectively –” of “assault weapons” as well as high-capacity magazines.
And Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said he will hold a hearing in two weeks on “this constitutional question,” a reference to the Second Amendment. “That’s the starting point,” he said. [...]
Durbin says the “conversation” about guns has been dominated by “Washington,” and he appealed to “hunters and sportsmen” to add their voices:
“We need people, just ordinary Americans, to come together, and speak out, and to sit down and calmly reflect on how far we go. I’m going to be holding a hearing after the first of the year, in about two weeks or so, on this constitutional question. That’s the starting point,” Durbin said.

According to ABC News, Ryan Lanza, the older brother of 20-year-old Connecticut school massacre perpetrator Adam Lanza, has told police that his brother has Asperger Syndrome and another “personality disorder.” ABC News reports: 

Neighbors described the younger man to ABC as “odd” and displaying characteristics associated with obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Chrysler Forced To Reinstate 13 Union Workers Caught Smoking Weed And Drinking On The Job After Union-Backed Arbitration Ruled In Their Favor…

Chrysler workers who were fired or suspended two years ago after a MyFoxDetroit investigation found them drinking and goofing off during lunch break are back on the job.
MyFoxDetroit first aired the footage of the Chrysler workers in September 2010. Video showed them in a park during the work day, drinking alcohol from bottles covered in brown paper bags and smoking what appeared to be marijuana.
With the auto giant having recently received a federal taxpayer bailout, and President Obama having visited the plant where the employees worked just months earlier, Chrysler appeared to take a zero-tolerance attitude. The company fired 13 workers, and suspended two.
But MyFoxDetroit reports that following a union-backed arbitration process, the employees were reinstated. This week, they came back to work.
Chrysler said in a statement that it does not support the decision to bring back the workers but would like to move on.
“While the company does not agree with the ultimate decision of the arbitrator, we respect the grievance procedure process as outlined in the collective bargaining  agreement and our relationship with the (United Auto Workers union),” the company said, according to MyFoxDetroit. “Unfortunately, the company was put in a very difficult position because of the way the story was investigated and ultimately revealed to the public. These employees from Jefferson North have been off work for more than two years. The time has come to put this situation behind us and resume our focus on building quality products that will firmly establish Chrysler Group’s position in the marketplace.”

PICKING THE BONES OF A DEAD BIKER

A State Trooper in Connecticut has been accused of stealing $3,000 in cash and jewelry from a man who died in a motorcycle accident. Aaron Huntsman, an 18-year veteran of the force, was arrested by fellow officers after a search turned up large amounts of cash and that jewelry in his patrol car following a complaint from the victim’s family members. It seems the materials were never logged into evidence during the accident investigation.

The accident occurred in September when John Scalasee, 49, collided with a truck on a local parkway and died before the cops showed up. Huntsman was one of the responders tasked with investigating the accident. It’s noted in reports that Huntsman isn’t some rogue outsider, he earns $111,000 a year for his work as a trooper and is vice president of his local police union. He now faces two charges of third-degree larceny, tampering with evidence and interfering with an investigation. His arraignment is scheduled for December 10.
