HOLLYWOOD BULLSHIT... CAPTAIN PHILLIPS... PUNKED

A new Hollywood film starring Tom Hanks as the ship's captain who heroically volunteered as a hostage to save the lives of his crew from Somali pirates is gaining glowing reviews and Oscar tips.

But a $50 million lawsuit lodged by several of his men claims that in real-life Captain Richard Phillips was no hero but instead risked their lives as he sailed his cargo vessel into pirate-infested waters.

The Sony Pictures movie Captain Phillips, which opens in American cinemas on Friday and in Britain next week, is based on his account of the 2009 attack on the Maersk Alabama cargo vessel.

The stand-off ended when US Navy marksmen shot dead the pirates who were holding the 58-year-old captain captive on a small craft.

Capt Phillips returned home to a hero's welcome and his selfless bravery was lauded by President Barack Obama who said: "His courage is a model for all Americans."

But nearly half the 20 crew members are suing the ship's owner and operator in a case that will be heard by an Alabama court in December. They claim that rather than saving their lives, Capt Phillips' actions put them at risk in the first place.

The lawsuit claims that he ignored warnings from the US and British navies to remain at least 600 miles offshore and was less than 300 miles off the Somali coast when the pirates attacked.

In the court documents, the crewmen argue that they were "knowingly, intentionally and wilfully" sent into pirate territory to save costs for the company.

He had pleaded guilty to 156 acts of public violence including mobilizing terrorist bombing campaigns, which planted bombs in public places, including the Johannesburg railway station. Many innocent people, including women and children, were killed by Nelson Mandela’s MK terrorists.

South African President P.W. Botha had, on a number of occasions, offered Nelson Mandela freedom from prison, if he would only renounce terrorist violence. This Mandela refused to do. – Invictus Idolatry

(v) Acts of participation in a violent revolution in the aforesaid Republic, whereby the accused, injured, damaged, destroyed, rendered useless or unserviceable, put out of action, obstructed, with or endangered:

(a) the health or safety of the public;
(b) the maintenance of law and order;

(c) the supply and distribution of light, power or fuel;
(d) postal, telephone or telegraph installations;
(e) the free movement of traffic on land; and
(f) the property, movable or immovable, of other persons or of the state.

According to the sue-happy administration and Democrats, the Military has “no discernible rational basis” for needing extra time. 

That’s a good argument considering Military absentee votes are seldom counted – but you have to think if you show up to vote in your own district, three days, or two days or one day early, you might get counted.

That’s the problem: counted Military votes. A Rasmussen Poll released on July 22nd shows that Vets prefer Romney 59% to 35%. My assumption is that “veterans” are different from “active duty” Military, and I haven’t found a poll of candidate preference among active duty Military – other than knowing they have contributed heavily to Ron Paul. Considering that, unless someone throws away their vote and writes him in or votes for Gary Johnson, Romney is closer to Paul than Obama (understatement? Yes.). Thanks to Bluegrass Pundit.

Although the photographs themselves are genuine, many commentators have pointed out that the gun collection actually belonged to the late Bruce Stern, rather than Charlton Heston. Mr Stern was a lifelong military and gun collector. An attorney and Vietnam veteran, he was involved in a number of military and firearms related organizations. He was a member of the National Rifle Association (NRA) Board of Directors. Mr Stern passed away in July, 2007.
